Mayor Boris Johnson to attend 2008 Visit London Awards

10 October 08

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, will deliver a key address at this year’s prestigious Visit London Awards.

Hosted by Visit London, the Awards celebrate London’s tourism offer including the arts, culture, attractions, entertainment and accommodation sector.

Visit London Chief Executive, James Bidwell, said:

“Now in their fifth year, the Visit London Awards celebrate London. We are delighted that Boris Johnson will be joining us on our night of nights. Tourism is worth £16 billion to our local economy and supports over 250,000 full-time jobs. The Mayor’s attendance recognises the vital contribution of our industry and Visit London’s role in driving and delivering the economic benefits of tourism.”

Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said:

“It’s a pleasure to attend this year’s Visit London Awards, my first as Mayor. Tourism is critical to our capital as the industry’s success translates directly into jobs for London and Londoners. These awards show the range and excellence of what the capital has to offer the visitor.”

The 2008 Visit London Awards will be held at the Royal Albert Hall on 27 November. For more information see http://www.visitlondon.com/awards.
