Celebrate Father’s Day in the Capital

Father’s Day is almost upon us, and to help you find that perfect gift, Visit London have compiled a selection of just some of the great Father’s Day ideas on offer throughout the Capital.
If he appreciates a gourmet feast, here are some great gastronomic experiences to suit every Dad’s palate:
- Taste of London (Regent’s Park, 18th - 21st June) will allow him to sample the culinary delights of over forty of London’s best Michelin-starred restaurants in a festival of al fresco dining.
- The renowned Rib Room (Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Knightsbridge) has come up with a delicious three-course menu for £47, which includes a day’s free membership at the hotel’s Peak Health Club & Spa.
- For back-to-basics quality cuisine, The Rivington Grill (Shoreditch and Greenwich) offer a great value £18.50 three course Sunday lunch menu of British classics.
- Fortnum & Mason will be hosting Sunday Jazz Brunch in The Fountain on the special day, with menu items such as black pudding, perfect for Dad’s appetite.

- Take Dad to try his hand at mixology at the Bulldog Sessions at Selfridges, where Bulldog Gin will be offering step-by-step mixology master-classes on the 19th and 20th of June.
- Sam’s Brasserie & Bar in Chiswick will be hosting a Glenlivet whisky tasting evening on the 22nd, attended by internationally renowned mixologist Phil Huckle, with two and three course dinner offers available to follow.
- For a drink he can enjoy with a personal touch, treat him to a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label whisky – personally engraved with the message of your choice, available at Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge.
Don’t just settle for ties and socks, pick up something unique for Dad’s big day. Here are some hints on where to look:

Whether your Dad’s a culture vulture, a sports fanatic, a history buff or a music aficionado, there is an event to suit every taste taking place in London this Father’s Day weekend.
- See history come to life at the Living History Weekend (20th – 21st June). Part of the Story of London Festival, the weekend will feature re-enactments - from mediaeval banquets to Tudor jousts, a Victorian Country Fair and a celebration of the Battle of Waterloo – at various locations around the city.
- The 500th anniversary of King Henry VIII’s coronation is also celebrated with a spectacular river pageant to Hampton Court Palace.
- For a bit of nostalgia, the London Transport Museum’s 1938 Tube train will make a journey along the Northern line as part of the Hendon Pageant celebrations ‘Summer of 44’ hosted by the RAF Museum, and including concerts, 1940s swing, tours, talks, re-enactors and interactive workshops.
- For a great, free family day out, West End Live will take over Leicester Square over the weekend, showcasing a selection of the West End’s most celebrated shows live on stage.
- The City of London Festival will animate buildings and outdoor spaces around London from the 19th of June with a programme of music, visual arts, film, walks and talks, including 100 free outdoor events.
- The Exhibition Road Music Day (21st June) is a free, all day event which will see more than 100 musical performances from all genres, converge in the heart of South Kensington.
- Rugby more to his taste? Saturday 20th sees the British & Irish Lions take on South Africa – take Dad to experience the game in the unique atmosphere of Twickenham. Ticket prices are only £25 and include the televised screening and a Hot Fork Buffet Lunch.
Father’s Day is the perfect opportunity to share in a special experience at one of London’s many top attractions:
- Test his knowledge of all things pop with a trip to the British Music Experience at The O2 where he can trace era defining moments through 60 years of music history.
