Head of Leisure Marketing shortlisted finalist at Asian Jewel Awards

Nimali Weerasinghe, Head of Leisure Marketing for Visit London was a shortlisted finalist for a Public Sector Award at the prestigious Lloyds TSB Jewel Awards.
The Lloyds TSB Jewel Awards celebrate the success and achievement in the Asian Community today. The awards focus on the positive way that Asian people have successfully integrated into British society and contribute to the social and economic fabric of the country.
Nimali was shortlisted in the public sector category which recognises the contribution made by British Asians in public service, social and community schemes and projects throughout the UK.
Commenting on the shortlist, Marketing Director Martine Ainsworth-Wells said,
“Nimali has made a valuable contribution the Visit London over the past seven years. She delivers innovative and creative campaigns across all the markets she works in and plays a hugely important role in maintaining London’s position as the world’s most visited city.”
Nimali joined Visit London in 2002, working in a range of international markets on pioneering campaigns that continue to lead the way in destination marketing. Nimali has received recognition throughout her career, most notably winning ‘Young marketer of Year’ at the Marketing Society Awards in 2006.
On her nomination for the Public Sector Excellence Award, Nimali said,
“At Visit London, I am able to promote a city I love and am really proud of. Our campaigns promote the depth, diversity and accessibility of the capital across the world. Being shortlisted at the Jewel Awards is a huge honour and I am delighted to be recognised for my achievements within the Asian community.”
The Lloyds TSB Jewel Awards were held in London on Saturday 7th November.
