Visit London today announced that leading long-haul airline Virgin Atlantic will be the headline sponsor of its 2008 Awards.
The Visit London Awards recognise and reward excellence in tourism and the people and places that make London the number one destination in the world for international travel.
Taking place on 27 November at the Royal Albert Hall, this year’s Visit London Awards will be presented by 95.8’ Capital FM’s Breakfast Show duo Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon and include a key address by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
The Visit London partnership with Virgin Atlantic builds on a three-year Awards relationship between the capital’s tourism agency and one of the UK’s leading international carriers.
Visit London’s Interim CEO Sally Chatterjee said:
“We are delighted with Virgin Atlantic’s support for the Visit London Awards. The Awards, which are now in the fifth year, go from strength to strength with a record number of entries of the highest calibre received in 2008. Together with Virgin Atlantic we wish our finalists all the best on Awards night.”
Virgin Atlantic’s Director of Communications Paul Charles said:
“The Visit London Awards highlight the best that London has to offer and we’re delighted to again be supporting them. The Awards bring true recognition to those that are innovative and world-class in their field.”
Tourism is worth over £16 billion each year to London’s economy and supports over 250,000 full-time jobs.
