Visit London appoints key association sales role as London jumps up the ICCA rankings
24 April 07
Visit London has appointed Becky Graveney to lead Association Sales as London jumps in the ICCA rankings from 13th to 11th position, making it once again the preferred UK city for associations to hold events.
Graveney said: “What an exciting time to be joining Visit London. There is so much buzz around the city, fuelled by the 2012 Games, new venues and new opportunities, all of which will make London even more attractive to the association market. With my background in conferences, I look forward to working with our partners to encourage potential clients to come to our inspirational city.”
Graveney’s past experience includes roles with Hilton in the corporate and agency sales sector, and latterly as Sales & Marketing Director for Initial Style Conferences – the specialist UK conference and training venue company.
Tracy Halliwell, Visit London’s Head of Business and Conventions, said: “This new appointment will enable London to continue to win association business in the run up to, during and after the 2012 Games. The ICCA results show that London is the UK’s preferred destination for association business. In 2004 we were in 19th position so we have made leaps and bounds in just a couple of years.”
The UK is ranked third overall for the number of association meetings held per country, moving up one place and beating off once again strong competition from countries including France and Italy.
“As a global city, London attracts a real mix of business from all industry sectors. Visit London recognises the importance of the associations sector in bringing long term financial benefit to the city,” Halliwell added.
