Visit London has started a dedicated social media strategy to better engage with its partners and the capital’s events industry.

Managed by Visit London Contributing Editor Mike Fletcher, Visit London’s Business and Event Solution teams are building a strong presence across Twitter, LinkedIn and dedicated events industry marketplace EventCrowd.com.

Partner and industry news stories, which are updated on visitlondon.com/business on a regular basis, are also being streamed via RSS feeds to both Visit London’s LinkedIn group and Event Crowd group. Visit London’s popular business Twitter stream @VLbusiness is also fed onto EventCrowd.com, ensuring a 360-degree communications strategy across key social media platforms.

Director of Business Tourism Tracy Halliwell commented: “It’s incredibly important for Visit London to be communicating to the events industry at all levels and through a number of different media. Many of our partners have news and special offers which are time sensitive and therefore it makes sense to communicate through platforms such as Twitter and RSS feeds. We also wanted to ensure that we had a forum where events industry peers could discuss and voice opinions – and that’s were LinkedIn group and EventsCrowd.com comes in to play.”

• visitlondon.com/business attracts an average of 23,000 visitors each month and is updated on a regular basis.
• Visit London’s Twitter account @VLbusiness has more than 600 events industry professionals and business followers. The feed, which is updated daily, communicates insightful information about events and venues in the capital, and prompts followers to view visitlondon.com/business news each time the website is updated.

• Visit London’s LinkedIn group provides an RSS news feed from visitlondon.com/business and a discussion board for members to comment on stories and engage on industry issues. Members of Visit London’s LinkedIn group can also post job vacancies.
• Event Crowd.com is an online events industry market place enabling members to make connections, share information and deliver business. Visit London’s group publishes RSS feeds from both the @VLbusiness Twitter account and the visitlondon.com/business event organisers site. Users can engage with other members, share photos, start discussions, post videos and request knowledge from other group members.

• Visit London also has three consumer-facing Twitter sites which are as follows:
@visitlondonweb – which is the consumer facing area with the latest events and tourist information.
@Dine_out_London – which gives latest information on the London Restaurant Festival
@Only_in_London – which follows the latest unique and unusual events happening in London
