The 2008 shortlisted finalists for the Visit London People’s Choice Awards were announced today with new names as well as well-known faces and places making the final round.

The Awards, which are being held on Thursday 27 November at the Royal Albert Hall, are a celebration of London’s hospitality and cultural offer. Capital FM’s Johnny Vaughan and Lisa Snowdon will be hosting the show, for which tickets are already selling fast.

Media partners the Evening Standard and 95.8 Capital FM will each host the People’s Choice Award categories online and give their readers and listeners the opportunity to have their say on the very best of London, with plenty of great prizes to be won.*

Visit London Chief Executive James Bidwell said:
“The Visit London Awards go from strength to strength each year. This is reflected in the record number of entries received this year and the consistently high standard of the nominations.

“Many congratulations to all of the shortlisted businesses. It is their hard work and dedication to quality that ensures London’s position as the world’s top city destination. I urge Londoners to have their say and vote for their favourite things to see and do in our city.”

Also new to the Visit London People’s Choice Awards in 2008 is the ‘London’s Favourite Londoner’ category which rewards an individual that has made an outstanding contribution to the capital in their chosen field. Finalists for London’s Favourite Londoner are: Paul Merton, Michael Caine OBE, Joanna Lumley OBE, Jamie Oliver MBE, Sir Alan Sugar and Leona Lewis.
